Everyone uploads their photos to Facebook these days. We always say we will get around to printing them out, but in reality, they go online, they stay online and everyone has a little look and gets jealous of your holiday.
This week, Canon have announced their all new app for Facebook that allows users to print photos directly from Facebook using their PIXMA software.
The ‘Print Your Days’ app allows Facebook users to edit, enhance and print photos directly from the website without downloading any additional software. The app also allows users to get creative by printing up to five photos on a page and adding borders and coloured backdrops. Editing features include cropping, sepia and the increasingly popular ‘vintage look’.
The app does not limit you to printing your own photos, but also the photos of friends, meaning that photos can now be shared without having to transfer files.
Canon has also released an update to their PIXMA software, called My Image Garden. The software, available for download from the end of July this year will be compatible with all Canon PIXMA printers launched since August 2010.
My Image Garden makes navigating between Canon’s printing and scanning software effortless. It is a one-stop platform that combines all software currently available to PIXMA printers through a simple, easy to use interface.
New features include Automatic Suggestion, which searches your PC for stored images and displays forgotten photos on the desktop via a slideshow. Users can then edit and print photos at their leisure. Automatic Layout makes it easier to print photos in a way that optimises space and thus reduces printing costs.
The software also uses face recognition software (a little creepy I know). My Image Garden then groups photos together, making it easier to locate specific shots of friends and family.
Both of these updates from Canon will make it far easier for users to print those photos that would otherwise stay hidden in the depths of your hard drive. So stock up on ink and photo paper and get printing!
