Common printer problems: "Help! I've sent 500 jobs to print by mistake!"

You send your CV to print from your home computer, only to find, for some strange reason, you asked your printer to product 500 of the bloomin' things.

Before you know it your printer is flying at a rate of knots, printing out copy after copy of your curriculum vitae.

Don't worry. It's easy to cancel a print job.

The first thing to do is reach for your printer and, after giving it a good telling off, hit the cancel button or find the cancel command on its help menu.

You could turn the printer off completely, but be warned that with modern printers this won't do the trick, as print jobs are often stored in the machine's internal memory, meaning when you turn it back on it'll start printing straightaway – and we don't want that.

You can also control print jobs from your computer. The best way to do this is to access the control panel, click 'printers', find your printer and cancel the job. It's as easy as pie.
