The company's Cartridge Collection Program was hailed for its focus on sustainability at the 2012 Manufacturing Leadership 100 awards.
Leadership 100 recognises the top manufacturing executives and organisations for their achievements. It's the first time Lexmark has won the award.
Its recycling programme allows customers to recycle their used ink and toner cartridge smoothly and efficiently.
"We're really excited about this particular award because it reflects the hard work of many Lexmark employees over a number of years," said John Gagel, Lexmark's manager of sustainability.
"The award is focused on the Lexmark Cartridge Collection Program and how we’ve been able to improve the sustainable features of our supplies through closed loop recycling."
